SUPERNOVA 2013R
     V. Lipunov communicates the discovery by Sergey Shurpakov and the MASTER
team of a possible supernova (mag 16.7) on two unfiltered CCD images
(limiting mag 18.9) obtained with the auto-detection system of the MASTER II
40-cm telescope (+ Apogee Alta U16m camera; field-of-view 2x4 square degrees)
at the MASTER-Amur observatory (see website URL http://observ.pereplet.ru) on
Jan. 6.786 UT. Evgeniy Gorbovskoy reports that the new object is located at
R.A. = 9h31m35s.12, Decl. = +35d23'42".4 (equinox 2000.0), which is 2".2 east
and 11".6 north of the center of the galaxy PGC 82417. Nothing is visible at
this position on a MASTER reference image from 2012 Dec. 21.731 (limiting mag
19.0). The discovery and reference images are available at website URL
http://observ.pereplet.ru/images/034115.13152303.9.png.

     L. Tomasella, S. Benetti, E. Cappellaro, A. Pastorello, M. Turatto, and
P. Ochner, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova, Istituto Nazionale di
Astrofisica, report that optical spectroscopy (range 340-820 nm; resolution
1.3 nm), obtained on Jan. 31.09 UT with the Asiago 1.82-m Copernico Telescope
(+ AFOSC; range 350-820 nm, resolution 1.3 nm), indicates that 2013R is a
type-Ia supernova about twenty days after maximum light at redshift z about
0.052, as derived from the spectral features. The expansion velocity, deduced
from the Si II 635.5-nm absorption, is about 11000 km/s. The Asiago
classification spectra are posted at website URL http://graspa.oapd.inaf.it;
classification was made via GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A.Ap. 488, 383)
and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024).
